This summer we are pleased to be showing the paintings of John Stobart and Vincent Crotty in our exhibit, "Inspired by Tradition." It is an exceptional offering of paintings by two artists influenced by their passion for painting from life.

Vincent paints en plein-air as often as he can, his approach creating a feeling of spontaneity and ease in his work. He creates his own individual vision of contemporary representational painting with a fresh, loose and cheerful result. His primary subject matter being the places of both Atlantic coasts.

Crotty is Irish born and has been living in Boston since 1990. Regarded for his landscapes, his paintings convey vivid moods and depict an immediate sense of time and place.

John Stobart, is our historian and guide to life along the water and the sailing ships of yesteryear in a genre he has made his own. A kind of 'visual pioneer' is how Stobart describes his idea of researching historical maritime locations and vessels to bring them back to life for the viewer.

John has a passion for painting outdoors. His broad, immediate brush strokes and mastery of light evoke a sense of spontenaity and life in all of his paintings.

The images to the right are a selection of the paintings in the show.
