British

(1911-2005)

Henry Scott is best known for his oil paintings of ships under full sail on blue seas that often feature recognizable locations. He was an honorary member of the International Association of Master Mariners, a group often referred to as “The Cape Horners.”

His work is very detailed with a strong sense of movement, and is often compared to his noted contemporary, Montague Dawson. He worked in both oil and watercolor.  Scott was an active early member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists and exhibited there regularly between 1950 and 1966.
